Giới thiệu về Đại học Hạ Môn

Xiamen University is one of China's most respected universities and one of the most attractive campuses in the country, set between the city's coast and the hills behind. Founded in the 1920s by the prominent overseas Chinese philanthropist Tan Kah Kee, it has long been associated with the openness and cosmopolitan spirit that characterize Xiamen as a southern Fujianese city with deep ties to Southeast Asia. For visitors, the campus is a pleasant place to wander, with green spaces, historic buildings, and a relaxed atmosphere.

The older parts of the university showcase a distinctive blend of Southern Fujianese and Western architectural styles, reflecting Tan Kah Kee's vision of a modern Chinese institution that drew on global ideas. Lake and garden areas, shaded avenues, and elegant early-twentieth-century academic buildings give the grounds a peaceful, contemplative character quite different from Xiamen's commercial seafront. The university's location also means that a stroll here can be combined with a visit to the nearby Nanputuo Temple, which sits at the foot of the hill just adjacent to the campus.

Because it is a working university rather than a conventional tourist attraction, visits require some advance planning: access policies for outside visitors can change, and there may be limits during exam periods, term time, or special events. Checking the current visitor arrangements before you go is advisable, and travelers should be respectful of the students and academic activity around them. A relaxed walk through the main campus takes about an hour or two.

Xiamen University sits near the coast in the southern part of the city and pairs naturally with Nanputuo Temple, the botanical garden, and the shoreline around Huandao Road, making it a pleasant addition to a day in this part of Xiamen. For travelers who enjoy architecture, the history of education, or simply a quiet walk in beautiful surroundings, it offers a calm, culturally rich counterpoint to the city's better-known tourist sights.

Di sản văn hóa

Xiamen University was founded in 1921 by the eminent patriotic overseas-Chinese leader Tan Kah Kee, among the first modern universities built with diaspora funds. Its campus backs onto Wulao Peak and faces the sea, next to Nanputuo Temple. The Kah Kee building groups combine Minnan red-brick mansions with Western colonnades and green-tiled, upswept eaves in the distinctive 'Kah Kee style,' the architecture woven into hill and sea—widely called one of China's loveliest campuses.

Tham quan: Wandering the campus, you find Furong Lake, the crescent sports field and red Kah Kee halls amid greenery; following the shore you can pass through the Furong Tunnel, its walls covered in students' murals. Between hill and sea, the sound of study mingles with the surf in an atmosphere at once scholarly and expansive.
