Giới thiệu về Núi Đầu Mèo
Cat Head Mountain, known in Chinese as Mao Tou Shan, is a small coastal mountain on the eastern side of Weihai, named for the silhouette of its peak, which resembles a cat's head when viewed from the surrounding coastal road. Although modest in elevation, the mountain has become one of the most popular stops along the Weihai ring-road sightseeing route, especially among Chinese travelers seeking less-developed natural scenery.
The mountain rises directly from the coast, with trails that climb from the road through low forest to a series of viewpoint terraces. From the upper sections, the view opens onto the Yellow Sea, the surrounding headlands, and the small fishing coves that punctuate the eastern Weihai shoreline. The shape of the peak is the principal photographic subject, and the most popular viewpoint is the one from which the feline silhouette is clearest.
The ecology of the mountain reflects its exposed coastal position. Trees are low and wind-shaped, and the rocky slopes support a mixture of drought-tolerant shrubs, wildflowers, and grasses. The birdlife is typical of the eastern Shandong coast, with gulls, terns, and small passerines common along the cliff edges. The relative lack of development on the mountain itself preserves the sense of being on a quiet, semi-wild headland, even though the main road passes close by.
For a foreign traveler, Cat Head Mountain is best visited as one of several stops along the Weihai ring-road sightseeing bus. A short climb to the upper viewpoint, a walk along the cliff path, and a pause at one of the small coastal coves make for a satisfying break. Bring sturdy shoes for the uneven stone paths, a layer against the wind, and binoculars for the birdlife. The light is most photogenic in the late afternoon.
