Giới thiệu về Ải Sơn Hải
Shanhaiguan Pass is one of the great fortified gates of China's Ming Great Wall and the strategic anchor of the eastern end of the wall in Qinhuangdao, Hebei province. Built in the Ming dynasty and backed by the Yan Mountains to the north while facing the Bohai Sea to the south, it was designed as a complete defensive system controlling the narrow coastal corridor between the mountains and the sea. For centuries this single pass defined the boundary between the lands inside the Great Wall, historically known as "guannei," and the northeastern frontier beyond it, known as "guanwai," making it one of the most consequential military sites in Chinese history.
As a major pass of the Ming Great Wall, Shanhaiguan is paired in legend and geography with Jiayuguan at the western end of the wall, the two together bracketing the entire Ming line of defense. The fortifications here are substantial, with a walled garrison city, gate towers, and connecting ramparts climbing toward the mountains and dropping down toward the coast, where the wall finally meets the sea. Walking the ramparts and exploring the surviving towers, visitors get a vivid sense of how this chokepoint once controlled all movement between north China and the northeast, and why it earned its famous nickname, the "First Pass Under Heaven."
The town around the pass retains much of its historic character, with old walls, gates, and lanes clustered within and around the fortifications. There are several related sites to explore in the immediate area, including the great east gate tower with its iconic plaque, and the wider Shanhaiguan scenic zone connects onward to Laolongtou, where the wall runs into the sea, and to the Jiaoshan mountain section to the north. This makes the pass a natural base for a day or two of Great Wall sightseeing.
Shanhaiguan sits at the northeastern edge of Qinhuangdao and is easy to fold into an itinerary built around the city's Great Wall sites and the Beidaihe coast. The combination of monumental architecture, layered history, and the dramatic meeting of mountain, wall, and sea gives the place a character all its own. For travelers drawn to the Great Wall, Shanhaiguan Pass is one of the essential stops in China and a memorable counterpart to the more familiar Badaling or Mutianyu sections near Beijing.

Shanhaiguan stands in the old town of Shanhaiguan District, Qinhuangdao, with the Yanshan mountains behind and the Bohai Sea before it—the first pass at the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall, built in 1381 under the general Xu Da. Above its eastern gate, the Zhen-dong Tower, hangs the great plaque "First Pass Under Heaven," while to the south the wall runs straight into the sea as "Laolongtou," the only place where the Great Wall meets the ocean. In 1961 the Great Wall at Shanhaiguan was named among the first batch of nationally protected cultural heritage sites, and in 1987 it became part of the World Heritage of the Great Wall, a single landscape of mountain, sea, pass and city.
Tham quan: Climbing the Zhen-dong Tower, one looks up at the great "First Pass Under Heaven" plaque and down over the old city, the line between "inside" and "outside" the pass laid bare; a few kilometres south at Laolongtou stand the Chenghai Tower and the stone sea-wall, where the Great Wall lifts its head from the waves—the finest place to gaze at the sea and hear the surf. On Phoenix Hill to the east, the Meng Jiangnv Temple and its couplet lend a softer note to this stern pass.
