Tòa nhà 85 Cao Hùng

The 85 Sky Tower (also known as the Tuntex 85 Sky Tower, Tuntex Sky Tower, or TC Tower) is one of Kaohsiung's most recognisable landmarks, a tapered multi-use skyscraper rising above the harbour district of Lingya. Adjacent to the Port of Kaohsiung and the Singuang Ferry Pier, the tower has been a defining feature of the city's skyline since its completion and remains one of the tallest buildings in Taiwan. For many international visitors, it serves as the most visible visual marker of central Kaohsiung.

The tower's form is distinctive. The design rises from a broad base into a tall central mast, with two setback wings flanking the central spine, a configuration that gives the building its characteristic silhouette when seen from across the harbour. The architecture was conceived to read at multiple scales: from a distance the tower anchors the city's skyline, while from close up the detail of the facade, the setback massing, and the multi-storey atrium at the top create a more complex architectural experience.

The tower's principal attraction for visitors is the observation deck, which occupies the upper floors of the central mast. From that height, the entire harbour, the Cijin Peninsula, and the urban grid of central Kaohsiung are visible at once, with the mountains to the east and the open water to the west completing the panorama. The view is most rewarding in the late afternoon and around sunset, when the harbour's shipping traffic and the city's growing street-light grid are simultaneously visible. The lower floors of the building house a hotel, offices, and retail spaces.

For international visitors, 85 Sky Tower is best treated as a focused one-to-two-hour stop, often combined with a walk along the nearby harbour front or a ferry crossing to Cijin. The observation deck is the main draw, and on clear days the visibility extends well beyond the immediate urban area. The tower is easily accessible by metro, and its surrounding district has enough restaurants and shops to support a longer stop, making it a convenient anchor for a half-day in this part of central Kaohsiung.
