Giới thiệu về Diễn xuất thực cảnh non nước “Ấn Tượng Lưu Tam Tỷ”

Impression Liu Sanjie is a large-scale outdoor theatrical performance staged directly on the Li River near Yangshuo, using the river itself and a dozen of the surrounding karst peaks as its stage and backdrop. Conceived by the film director Zhang Yimou together with a team of collaborators, it was among the first of China's signature "impression" series of nature-based outdoor shows and remains one of the most famous evening performances in the country, drawing audiences to a purpose-built amphitheater on the riverbank outside Yangshuo town.

The production draws on the legend of Liu Sanjie, a folk heroine of the Zhuang ethnic minority celebrated for her singing, and reimagines local Guangxi culture through choreography, song, and elaborate lighting that plays across the surface of the water. Hundreds of local performers — many of them farmers and fishermen by day — move across illuminated rafts and platforms on the river while the dark silhouettes of the surrounding peaks loom behind them, lit only by stage lighting and whatever moon or stars are overhead. The scale of the setting gives the show a genuinely immersive, open-air quality that no conventional indoor theater can reproduce, and the fusion of folk tradition, contemporary staging, and natural scenery is the defining feature of the experience.

For foreign visitors, the performance is one of the signature evening experiences in the Guilin and Yangshuo area, and it pairs naturally with a day spent on the Li River or exploring the Yangshuo countryside. Shows run in the evening, typically lasting under an hour, and the amphitheater fills up during peak travel seasons, so advance booking is worthwhile. Even visitors who do not understand the lyrics or the underlying folk legend tend to find the visual and atmospheric impact of the show memorable, since the production is built primarily around image, music, and movement rather than spoken narrative. Seating tiers and sightlines vary, so travelers with a strong interest in photography should consider the viewing angle when booking. The performance is weather-dependent and, in the event of rain, proceeds with provided rain gear, which can become part of the atmosphere itself.
