Происхождение

Han embroidery is a traditional needlework of the Jingsha, Wuhan and Honghu area of Hubei; by tradition it began in the Han, rose in the Tang and flourished in the Qing, rooted in the ornamental tradition of the ancient Chu state.

Han embroidery is known for its layering, pressing, weaving and locking stitches, favoring lively, fully packed compositions with strong decorative effect, often used for opera costumes, embroidered pieces and furnishings.

Bold in composition and vivid in color, Han embroidery breathes the lingering spirit of Chu and stands among the representative embroidery schools of the middle Yangtze.
