Zhongshan Film and Television City is a theme park and production site built around replica film sets, holding a national 5A-level tourist rating that places it among the highest-graded attractions in the Zhongshan area. The park was originally developed to support film and television productions centered on the late Qing dynasty and the Republic of China period — the eras most closely associated with Sun Yat-sen and the founding of modern China — and the standing sets have since been opened to the public as an immersive walk-through attraction.

Inside, visitors move through reconstructed streets and districts meant to evoke early twentieth-century southern China, including building façades, shop fronts, and public spaces styled after the architecture of the period. The streetscapes double as a backdrop for costumed photo opportunities, live performances, and seasonal events that lean into the historical atmosphere, and the layout allows visitors to wander freely through the "town" rather than following a fixed route. Because the sets were built to be filmed, the level of architectural detail on the principal streets tends to be higher than in a purely decorative theme park, which gives the grounds a more convincing period feel.

For foreign visitors, the Film and Television City is best understood as a themed experience rather than a heritage site — the buildings are replicas, and the appeal lies in the immersive atmosphere of a recreated historical streetscape rather than in authentic architecture. A visit fills roughly a half-day and pairs naturally with the nearby Sun Yat-sen Former Residence and the broader Sun Yat-sen Hometown Tourist Area, which together form the core historical itinerary of Zhongshan. The park suits families, photography enthusiasts, and travelers with an interest in the visual culture of the Republic of China period.
