Huandao Road is Xiamen's celebrated coastal ring road, a sweeping scenic drive and walkway that follows the curve of the shoreline for many kilometers along the city's southeastern coast. Lined with beaches, parks, viewpoints, and boardwalks, it is the single most beloved leisure route in the city and a perfect place to experience Xiamen's defining relationship with the sea. Along the route, wooden boardwalks cling to the rocks above the waves, beaches open onto wide views of the sea and Gulangyu, and the road is famous for its golden sunrises and sunsets over the water.
