О Музей храма Цзиньцы
Jinci Museum, set at the foot of Mount Xuanweng about twenty-five kilometers southwest of Taiyuan, is one of the most important ancient temple complexes in northern China and the cultural highlight of any visit to Shanxi Province. With origins stretching back well over a millennium, it preserves an extraordinary concentration of ancient architecture, sculpture, gardens, and inscriptions within a single shaded park of cypress trees and flowing springs. For travelers following the historic circuit of Shanxi, Jinci is the single most rewarding day trip from Taiyuan and a site that genuinely earns its local saying that a visit to Taiyuan is incomplete without it.
The complex was built as a memorial shrine to Tang Shuyu, the founding lord of the ancient state of Jin, from which the province of Shanxi takes its name. Over the centuries it grew into a layered religious and royal landscape that combines Daoist, Buddhist, and ancestral worship within the same enclosure. The result is an unusually rich architectural record, with halls, pavilions, bridges, and courtyards built across successive dynasties and still standing in close dialogue with one another, making it one of the finest surviving examples of a Chinese imperial offering garden.
Several masterpieces of ancient architecture anchor the site. The圣母殿, or Sage Mother Hall, is a monumental Song dynasty structure whose gently curving roof and graceful wooden brackets are considered a landmark in the history of Chinese building. Inside, painted clay sculptures of attendant figures from the Song period are celebrated for their lifelike expressions and remain some of the rarest surviving examples of Song figure sculpture in China. Nearby stand the Zhou-era cypress tree, ancient and leaning at a dramatic angle, and the Nanlao Spring, whose clear water has fed the gardens for centuries and given the site its reputation as a place of perpetual renewal.
Other highlights include the Flying Beam over the Fish Pond, a rare cross-shaped bridge dating back to the Northern Wei period, and the iron figures cast to guard the springs, along with a sequence of smaller temples, stele pavilions, and gardens that reward slow exploration. Most visitors spend a relaxed half-day walking the shaded paths, and local guides can add layers of meaning to what can otherwise feel like a dense succession of ancient buildings. The site is busiest on weekends and Chinese public holidays, so a weekday morning offers the most contemplative experience, particularly in spring and autumn when the gardens are at their most beautiful.
Культурное наследие
Jinci lies on the banks of the Jin River at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain, 25 km southwest of Taiyuan, with origins traceable to the Northern Wei; its extant buildings span the Northern Song through the Qing, forming a treasure house integrating ancient architecture, sculpture, stone inscriptions and garden design. The Zhou-era cypress, the Ever-Young Spring and the Song-dynasty handmaiden statues are the 'Three Marvels of Jinci'; the Holy Mother Hall is among China's earliest surviving Song timber-frame buildings and a national key cultural heritage site.
Посещение: Strolling through the garden you encounter millennium-old cypresses, flowing springs and polychrome Song sculptures; the 43 Song-dynasty handmaiden statues in the Holy Mother Hall are particularly vivid and precious. During the Jinci Temple Fair, yangge dancing, gong-drum performances and other folk traditions gather here, making it the best place to experience Shanxi's history and folk arts.
