The Nanning Garden Expo Park was the main venue of the twelfth China International Garden Expo and is now a permanent 4A-rated landscape park on the eastern side of the city. The park is organized around three linked lakes and six distinctive bridges, with eighteen preserved hill formations reworked into three landscape ridges that structure the overall composition. Within this framework sit eighty display gardens, including Chinese city gardens that showcase the design traditions of different regions, an ASEAN garden cluster reflecting Nanning's role as China's gateway to Southeast Asia, gardens themed around the historic Silk Road, and dedicated zones for Guangxi itself and for contemporary design experimentation. The transformation of former quarry pits and small villages into a coherent landscape park is itself a major piece of ecological and design work, and the site retains traces of that earlier, industrial landscape.

Because of its scale, a visit is best treated as a half-day or full-day experience rather than a quick walk. Most visitors pick a few themed zones that interest them most, such as the ASEAN gardens or a particular regional Chinese style, rather than attempting to see all eighty. The site is largely outdoors and can be hot in midsummer, so spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for a long visit, and electric carts and shuttle services within the park help cover the distances between zones.

The Garden Expo Park is one of the clearest expressions of Nanning's ambition as a green, internationally connected city, and it is well suited to travelers who enjoy designed landscapes and long walks. Paired with Qingxiu Mountain and the riverfront, it forms the backbone of a nature and design-oriented itinerary through the city.
