The Kaifeng Lord Bao Temple (Bao Gong Ci) is a memorial complex on the southwestern shore of Lord Bao Lake dedicated to Bao Zheng, the eleventh-century official whose reputation for incorruptibility has made him one of the most revered figures in Chinese political culture. Known informally across the Chinese-speaking world as "Justice Bao" or "Bao Qingtian", he served as prefect of Kaifeng under the Northern Song, and his career there became the seed of a vast body of legend, opera, and later television drama that still defines the Chinese archetype of the upright magistrate.

A temple honouring Bao Zheng has stood in Kaifeng in some form since the Jin and Yuan dynasties, reflecting how quickly his reputation outgrew his historical career. The present complex, however, is a modern rebuilding, raised in the 1980s on the current lakefront site after the earlier structures were lost. The architecture follows classical Chinese memorial conventions: a sequence of courtyard halls leading to a central shrine, with painted or sculpted tableaux illustrating scenes from Bao's life and from the most famous cases attributed to him in legend. The atmosphere is reverent rather than museum-like.

The exhibits inside combine historical material with the legendary tradition that grew around Bao. Visitors see the magistrate's tribunal recreated, the famous imperial tablet, and a series of dioramas depicting stories that most Chinese visitors will recognise instantly from childhood. The contrast between the modest historical record and the enormous cultural afterlife is itself instructive, illustrating how a single official's reputation for integrity can become, over centuries, a moral reference point for an entire civilisation.

The temple is best visited together with Kaifeng Prefecture, located nearby, where Bao Zheng actually served. The pairing allows visitors to move from the historical site of his work to the place where his memory is cultically honoured. Allow about an hour for the temple itself. The lakefront setting is pleasant, particularly in the late afternoon, and the surrounding streets are lined with old-style shops and food stalls that round out a half-day in this part of Kaifeng.
