Guiyang Karst Park is an unusual urban green space set within the city itself, preserving a cluster of karst stone forest formations that would normally be found only in much more remote settings. Often described as a "miniature garden in the city" and Guiyang's "urban living room," it offers residents and visitors a chance to walk among genuine karst geology without leaving the municipal core.

The park is made up of northern and southern sections of stone forest, where exposed limestone has been weathered into the jagged, sculptural forms characteristic of karst terrain. Named features such as the "thread of sky" gorge, the waterfall over stone, the dripping Guanyin, and the golden toad each illustrate a different effect of the water and time that shape these landscapes, while the winding paths between them turn the visit into a small exploration of a miniature rocky wilderness.

An academy devoted to the philosophy of Wang Yangming, a grass hall, a strange-stone museum, and a cultural corridor devoted to Colorful Guizhou all sit within or alongside the stone formations, tying the geological landscape to the intellectual and artistic traditions of the region. A children's amusement area and a small theater round out the programming.
