О Китайский питомник гигантских панд в Дуцзянъяне (ранее Парк панд)
The Dujiangyan Giant Panda Base sits in the countryside near Mount Qingcheng, close to the edge of the giant panda habitat recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage area, giving it a genuinely mountainous, forested setting that feels noticeably wilder than panda facilities closer to central Chengdu. The location is no accident: this stretch of Sichuan sits right at the edge of the panda's historic range, with a climate and terrain naturally suited to the bamboo forests giant pandas depend on.
Compared to the busier, more heavily visited panda base in Chengdu proper, this site tends to feel quieter and more spread out, with enclosures set into genuinely hilly, wooded terrain rather than a flatter, more manicured park. Visitors can watch pandas eating, climbing, and resting in surroundings that closely resemble their natural habitat, and the base's relative remoteness from the city center means crowds are generally lighter, even during periods when Chengdu's main panda base is at capacity. As with any panda-viewing site, mornings offer the best chance to see the animals active and feeding before they settle into rest for the warmer part of the day.
Because it sits near Mount Qingcheng and within reach of the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, this panda base is often folded into a broader day trip covering all three sites, letting visitors combine wildlife viewing with the area's Taoist heritage and ancient engineering in a single excursion outside the city. The nearby historic town of Jiezi, known for its well-preserved west Sichuan architecture, offers another easy add-on for travelers with a full day to spend in the area.
Given the travel time involved from central Chengdu, this base works best as part of a half or full day trip rather than a quick stop, ideally combined with Mount Qingcheng or the Dujiangyan Irrigation System to make the most of the journey out. For visitors who want to see giant pandas in a more natural, less crowded setting while also exploring the Dujiangyan area's other major sights, this panda base is a worthwhile detour from the standard Chengdu-only itinerary.
