Beijing Wildlife Park is a large drive-and-walk safari park on the southern outskirts of Beijing, set on a sweeping site beside the Yongding River. Because the grounds are so large, plan for a good chunk of the day, ideally most of it, and expect plenty of walking even if you use the internal transport for part of the route. Spring, summer, and early autumn are the liveliest times, when the animals are most active and the weather suits a long outdoor visit; wear comfortable shoes, bring sun protection, and dress for the season. Weekends and holidays are the busiest, so an early arrival helps you beat the crowds and see the animals at their most alert.

Beijing Wildlife Park lies well south of the city in the Daxing district, so it is best treated as a dedicated outing rather than something to combine with downtown sights. Give it its own day in your itinerary, and it works especially well for travelers with children or anyone who enjoys wildlife and open space. With its scale, its variety of species, and its close-up encounters, it provides a fun, nature-focused counterpoint to Beijing's historic monuments and a memorable day out for the whole family.
