Hengqin Guifei Oyster

명물 먹거리
소개

Hengqin 'Imperial Concubine' oysters are large oysters raised in the brackish, half-salt waters around Hengqin island, where river and sea meet. Plump and full-fleshed, they are one of Zhuhai's signature estuary seafoods.

유래

Hengqin lies at the mouth of the Pearl River, where nutrient-rich river water mixes with the sea. This brackish setting suits oyster growth, and local communities have long farmed oysters in these waters.

먹는 법

They are commonly grilled with minced garlic, blanched, simmered into congee, or stir-fried with ginger and scallion. Locals enjoy them as a shared seasonal seafood at the dinner table.

특징

These oysters are prized for their size, tender meat, and sweet, briny juices. The brackish-water environment gives them a clean, fresh flavor that captures the taste of Zhuhai's estuary.
