Mianwo Fritter

명물 먹거리
소개

Mianwo is made from a batter of ground rice and soybean, ladled with a special iron scoop that bulges in the middle and dips at the edges, then deep-fried; the center comes out thin and crunchy, the rim thick and crisp — hence the name, meaning "flour nest."

유래

By tradition, a late-Qing Hankou vendor surnamed Chang devised the dipped-and-bulged scoop while trying to improve a rice cake; the fragrant fried rings drew neighbors, and the name "mianwo" stuck.

먹는 법

Locals often pair mianwo with hot-dry noodles or fish-broth rice noodles at breakfast, eating it hot while crisp outside and tender within.

특징

Its soul is the rice-to-bean ratio and the frying heat, giving the double texture of a crunchy center and soft rim, savory with a faint bean fragrance.
