Lao Tongchang Tea
제1차 선정Lao Tongchang began as a branch of Kaifeng's Wang Dachang tea shop, opened by Wang Zetian of Hebei. It opened in the spring of 1927 on Datong Street in Xuzhou under the name Tongchang, meaning to prosper together with Wang Dachang, later adding the word "old" to its present name, and has now endured for nearly a century.
Lao Tongchang was first certified as a Chinese Time-Honoured Brand in 1993 and reconfirmed by the Ministry of Commerce in 2006, a famous Jiangsu trademark dealing in nearly a hundred teas from green to scented to oolong, long the first choice for locals buying tea for gifts at festival time.
Holding to a creed of authenticity, refinement and sincerity, the house selects famous teas from across the country and blends and scents them in-house; its jasmine tea is especially renowned, with the tea base repeatedly infused with fresh blossoms so the fragrance reaches the core and the liquor stays clear, carrying on the heavily-scented craft of a northern tea house.
