Nanchang Hengdeli

Nanchang Hengdeli is a century-old watch and optical house on Zhongshan Road in the Donghu district, the Jiangxi continuation of the modern Hengdeli watch chain, surviving through the Republican era and the cooperative transformations to become one of the oldest retail names on the city's shopping streets, listed among Nanchang's six Chinese time-honoured brands.

For older Nanchang people, "take it to Hengdeli" was the obvious answer for a watch repair, and its window displays and optical service accompanied generations of citizens, a witness to the commercial life of Zhongshan Road.

Its watch repair keeps the precise mechanical craft of disassembly, cleaning, regulation and oiling, while its optical work is known for manual retinoscopy and fine lens grinding, a rare craft-based name in Nanchang's retail trade.
