Hongjitang
제1차 선정Hongjitang was founded in 1907 by Le Jingyu, a late-Qing physician, in Jinan. It is one of the very few century-old brands in the city that still operates today, and a flagship of Shandong's traditional medicine trade.
In 1909 Hongjitang established its ejiao workshop. Its Dongliushui ejiao, made from carefully selected materials, won awards at exhibitions at home and abroad and became synonymous with fine Jinan-made gelatin.
Hongjitang ejiao is prepared by the old tribute-gelatin method using black donkey hide and specific spring water, through a long and exacting sequence of simmering steps that demand precise control of heat and water quality.
Hongjitang was named among the first batch of Chinese time-honored brands, and its traditional medicine culture entered the national intangible heritage list as an expansion project in 2021.
