Lao Sichuan traces to a Chongqing man nicknamed Wen the Beef Man, Wen Wenbo, who in the 1920s and 30s sold braised beef; the brand was formally established in 1937 and grew into a noted Chongqing house centered on beef jerky and beef products, an emblem of the region's beef food culture.

유명해진 이유

Its line is best known for five-spice and mala (numbing-spicy) beef jerky, sold across the country, and it is among Chongqing's most recognized specialty brands. In 2006 MOFCOM named it in the first batch of China Time-Honored Brands, and it has also held national well-known trademark honors.

대표 기술

Its beef passes through many steps, cutting, soaking, par-cooking, air-drying, braising, baking, steaming, and stir-frying, with a distinctive spice blend, yielding jerky that is dry yet not tough and richly numbing-spicy, embodying the region's traditional braising and beef-curing craft.

문화적 위상

As a first-batch Time-Honored Brand, Lao Sichuan keeps alive a regional beef-braising tradition and is a long-established window onto the savory specialties of the mountain city.
