기원

Yangge began as a Han agricultural-ritual dance; after being carried northeast by Central Plains migrants it absorbed Manchu and other minority elements, evolving into a distinctively northeastern communal folk dance.

예술 형식

Dancers hold coloured fans or satin ribbons, twisting and swaying in procession to gongs and drums with varied formation changes in a festive and exuberant atmosphere.

문화적 의의

Northeastern Yangge is the most important folk celebration during Spring Festival in the northeast, carrying communal wishes for a good harvest and good health.
