The Liudingshan Cultural Tourism Zone is a Buddhist and cultural scenic area in the hills south of Dunhua, within the wider Yanbian region accessible to visitors based in Yanji. Rated as a national 5A tourist attraction, it combines a major Buddhist monastic complex, a large bronze seated Buddha statue, and a setting of wooded hills and lakeshore into a single composed landscape, making it one of the most significant religious and cultural sites in the Yanbian area and a major stop for visitors traveling through the region.

The most visually dominant element of the site is the large bronze seated statue of Shakyamuni Buddha that crowns the hilltop, serving as the landmark of Liudingshan and one of the most recognizable silhouettes in the area. Its scale and its placement at the top of the slope, visible from approach roads and from the lower temple precinct, give the site a clear focal point, and most visitors structure their visit around the climb up to the statue and the panoramic views over the surrounding hills and lakes it offers from above. On a clear day the sweep of the wooded Yanbian landscape, with its mix of forested slopes and water, opens out from the upper terraces in a way that few other cultural sites in the region can match.

Below the Buddha statue, the Zhengjue Temple sits at the heart of the complex. It is regarded as one of the largest Buddhist nunneries in the world and one of the larger Buddhist temples in northeastern China, and it functions as an active monastic community rather than purely as a tourist site. The temple's layout follows the traditional arrangement of Chinese Buddhist monastic architecture, with halls, courtyards, and shrine rooms arranged along a central axis, and walking through its grounds gives visitors a structured introduction to contemporary Buddhist religious life in the region. The presence of an active community of practitioners gives the site a lived-in, working atmosphere that distinguishes it from purely preserved historical temples.

A typical visit takes around two to three hours, with most of the time split between the temple precinct and the walk up to the Buddha statue. The site draws pilgrims and Buddhist lay visitors from across northeastern China alongside general tourists, and it can be particularly busy on Buddhist festival days and weekends, with weekday mornings generally the calmest time to visit.

Because Liudingshan sits in Dunhua rather than in Yanji itself, most visitors approach it as a dedicated day trip from Yanji or as part of a wider circuit around the Yanbian region, often combined with the broader nature-focused attractions that characterize this part of northeastern China.
