십리화랑 소개

The Ten-Mile Gallery is the name given to the scenic country road that runs south from Yangshuo town through the heart of the karst countryside, linking a string of the area's most popular natural and cultural attractions. For visitors to Yangshuo, it is the single most enjoyable way to spend a relaxed day outdoors, whether by bicycle, electric scooter, or on foot, with new limestone pinnacles, caves, and viewpoints appearing around every bend.

The route takes its name from the gallery-like succession of framed karst views along the way. From the southern edge of Yangshuo, the road threads between sheer peaks and rice paddies, passing the Big Banyan Tree, the Butterfly Spring, Moon Hill, the Julong Cave, and a series of smaller viewpoints and cultural attractions. The roadside is lined with cafes, small guesthouses, craft workshops, and stalls selling fruit and souvenirs, and the whole stretch has a relaxed, low-key resort feel that contrasts with the more crowded town center.

Most independent travelers choose to explore the Ten-Mile Gallery by bicycle or rented electric scooter, which allows for an easy half-day or full-day circuit with stops at whatever attractions catch the eye. The road is mostly flat, the distance is manageable, and the pace is unhurried. Photographers stop constantly to frame the karst peaks against the foreground of fields and farmhouses, and climbers tackle the bolted limestone routes on several of the more accessible crags. Smaller side roads branch off into the surrounding villages, rewarding travelers who wander with quiet temples, stone bridges, and country inns.

The most popular stops along the gallery, including Moon Hill, the Big Banyan Tree, and the Butterfly Spring, charge separate entry fees, while the road itself and most of the surrounding scenery are free. Plan for at least half a day, longer if you want to do a temple visit, a cave tour, or a meal at one of the rural restaurants along the way. Mornings and late afternoons offer the best light, and weekdays are noticeably quieter than weekends.

The Ten-Mile Gallery sits squarely within the Guilin Karst, a component of the South China Karst UNESCO World Heritage serial property, and for many visitors a slow day along this road is the single best way to understand why Yangshuo has become one of the most internationally famous scenic destinations in China. Pack water, sun protection, and a camera, and let the landscape set the pace.
