대촉산 국가삼림공원

Dashushan National Forest Park is a wooded hill park on the western side of Hefei, rising as a surprising green peak out of the otherwise flat urban plain and providing the city's most accessible large natural area for hiking, walking, and outdoor recreation. The hill has a volcanic geological origin, which accounts for its distinctive isolated shape on the landscape, and its slopes are now fully forested, creating a leafy, shaded environment that feels far more removed from the city than its location suggests.

Paved and unpaved trails wind up through the forest to the summit, where clearings open up views back across Hefei's spreading urban grid, and the climb is moderate enough to be tackled by visitors of average fitness without specialized equipment. Along the way, the paths pass through dense stands of trees, small pavilions, rest stops, and occasional memorials, with the cooler air under the canopy making the ascent more comfortable during the warmer months when the surrounding city feels hottest.

The park draws a steady stream of local residents for morning exercise, weekend hikes, and evening walks, so the main trails are rarely empty, though the further one moves from the primary entrances the quieter the surroundings become. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable hiking conditions, while summer visits are best undertaken earlier in the morning, and the foliage itself changes character noticeably across the seasons.

For a Hefei itinerary, Dashushan provides the city's most convenient natural escape, and it pairs naturally with a visit to the adjacent Hefei Wild Animal Park on the hill's southwestern side. A morning or late-afternoon hike up to the summit takes a couple of hours at a relaxed pace, and the park rewards visitors looking for outdoor exercise and panoramic views of the city more than any structured sightseeing experience.
