첸링산 공원

Qianling Mountain Park, tucked into the northwest corner of urban Guiyang, is the city's most beloved green space and a place where nature, religion, wildlife, and everyday leisure meet within a single large park. Its wooded slopes, temples, lakes, and resident monkeys make it both a convenient retreat for locals and an essential stop for visitors wanting a taste of Guizhou's landscape without leaving town.

The park is built around a series of forested ridges that rise a couple of hundred meters above the surrounding streets. A stone path called the Nine-Bend Trail climbs through dense vegetation past carved cliff inscriptions to Hongfu Temple, a Qing dynasty Buddhist monastery whose prayer halls draw steady crowds of devotees. Beyond the temple, a viewing pavilion on Xiangwang Ridge looks out over Guiyang's high-rises framed by ring after ring of mountains.

The park's most famous residents are the free-ranging macaques. The monkeys roam the slopes and the paths around the temple in large troops, utterly unafraid of people, and they are the reason many visitors come. Photographing and watching them is part of the fun, but the monkeys are bold enough to snatch food and loose items, so visitors are wise to keep snacks out of sight and a firm grip on cameras and bags.

Other corners of the park add further layers. Qianling Lake, an artificial reservoir, offers boat rentals and summer lotus blooms, while a small zoo and the Qilin Cave, once used to detain historical political figures, add interest for families and history-minded travelers. A network of paths ties these zones together into a satisfying circuit.
