De Fa Chang

De Fa Chang was founded in 1936 as a small dumpling shop near Xi'an's Bell Tower, growing over the decades into a Time-Honored Brand known above all for its dumpling banquet.

It is famous for a banquet of many dumpling varieties, each differing in filling, shape, and cooking method, making it Xi'an's signature dumpling house and a common stop for visitors sampling Guanzhong wheat cookery.

The banquet aims for one shape and one flavor per dumpling, using varied fillings and folding techniques to create many forms, steamed, boiled, pan-fried, and deep-fried, showcasing the fine pastry craft of the Guanzhong region.

As a Time-Honored Brand, De Fa Chang has continually expanded its banquet on a foundation of traditional dumpling craft and forms part of the food culture around the Bell and Drum Tower district.
