Bailiangye Liquor

Turpan Bailiangye Liquor Co., Ltd. is a local distillery in Turpan, drawing on the sorghum grown in the basin's sun-drenched, high-diurnal oasis farming and using traditional solid-state fermentation, and has stood in Turpan for many years as a representative local spirit brand.

In February 2024 Bailiangye was named among the first thirty-five "Xinjiang time-honoured brands" by the commerce department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, one of the few Turpan firms on the list and regarded as the emblem of the city's own liquor culture.

Its liquor is made from basin sorghum through solid-state fermentation, steam-still distillation and long storage in earthen jars, yielding a clear, clean spirit with the delicate grain fragrance of oasis produce, showing the regional character of northwestern Chinese liquor.
