Yedao (Hainan Yedao Group)

The predecessor of Hainan Yedao Group was the state-owned Haikou City Winery, founded in 1953, the same year it began industrial production of Yedao Deer-and-Tortoise Wine; it has now endured for over seventy years. It was restructured into a joint-stock company in 1993 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2000, the only listed health-wine maker in China.

Yedao Deer-and-Tortoise Wine is the group's flagship product, its formula following the Chinese-medicine ideal of "balancing yin and yang," brewed with deer and tortoise together with many herbs; it has for years led national sales of immune-health wines, and stands beside coconut juice as one of the two great Hainan specialities.

Its health-wine craft carries forward a classical Chinese-medicine formula, pairing authentic ingredients such as deer-bone gelatin and tortoise-shell gelatin, then extracting, blending and ageing the wine, embodying the old wisdom that "medicine and food share one source" and representing the craft heritage of Hainan's home brands.

Yedao was recognised by the Ministry of Commerce in the third batch of China Time-Honoured Brands in 2024, the only Hainan brand named in that batch.
