Yangchangzi began as the "Shengli Sausage Shop," founded around 1929 in Beidaihe by Yang Tingzhen (born 1902), a native of Jinan in Shandong. In his youth Yang learned Western-style ham-sausage making at a German-run inn in Jinan, then adapted the craft; customers came to call his distinctive sausages "Yang's sausage," and the name grew into Beidaihe's signature flavour.

Ce qui a fait sa renommée

For nearly a century Yangchangzi has been famous for its rose-red slices of pure lean pork, thin and tender, fragrant and savoury with a Western-ham character; it is the gift that generations of visitors have carried home from Beidaihe, a taste-memory of the seaside town.

Savoir-faire emblématique

The sausage is made from pure lean pork, cured with a blend of seasonings, then stuffed, smoked and cooked with careful control of heat and recipe; the result is a ruddy, firm-textured, full-flavoured sausage that carries forward the Sino-Western craft established in the Republican era.

Statut culturel

"Beidaihe Yangchangzi" was recognised as an inaugural "Hebei Time-Honoured Brand" by the Hebei Provincial Department of Commerce in December 2023, and its making technique is also listed on the Hebei Provincial intangible heritage register (2019).
