Jiqingxiang

Jiqingxiang was founded in 1907 by the brothers Chen Huiquan and Chen Huisheng together with their brother-in-law Yuan Jizhi; the name strings together one character from each partner, and the house has anchored Kunming's Yunnan-style pastry trade ever since.

It is celebrated for inventing the Yunnan-ham mooncake, folding cured Xuanwei ham into a firm, flaky shell to define the Yunnan mooncake style, and ranks among the first batch of national Time-Honored Brands.

The ham mooncake balances salty and sweet within a crisp crust and moist filling, made by recipes and steps handed down over generations - a taste Kunming residents most associate with the Mid-Autumn Festival.
