Zhangyiyuan was founded in 1900, in the late Qing, when Zhang Changyi of Anhui opened a tea house in Beijing specializing in scented teas — above all jasmine tea.

Ce qui a fait sa renommée

Zhangyiyuan won the capital over with jasmine tea prized for a clear liquor, full flavor and long, fragrant finish — one of the everyday teas most beloved by old Beijingers, and almost a byword for Beijing scented tea.

Savoir-faire emblématique

Its jasmine tea excels in yinzhi, the scenting process: tea leaves are layered with fresh jasmine blossoms and scented over several rounds, taking on the flower's fragrance until the blossoms are removed — leaving an elegant, lasting aroma without a petal in sight.

Statut culturel

A China Time-Honored Brand, Zhangyiyuan's jasmine-tea scenting technique is inscribed as national intangible cultural heritage — a leading name in Beijing's scented-tea culture.
