Fengtian Luozi is a regional opera style that formed after Pingju reached old Shenyang in the early twentieth century, marked by a loud, fiery vocal manner once popular across northeastern towns and countryside.

Performance prizes a resonant voice and brisk tempo, emphasizing singing and stage manner, with repertoire drawn from everyday life and traditional tales; it is borne and declared by Shenyang's Heping district.

Listed as provincial intangible heritage, Fengtian Luozi witnesses the modern operatic development of Shenyang; with aging bearers it is now an endangered project in urgent need of safeguarding.
