Changzhou comb-making dates back to the Wei and Jin dynasties, became a tribute item in the Tang-Song era, and earned the title 'palace combs.'

La forme artistique

The craft produces two types — coarse combs (shu) and fine combs (bi) — through dozens of hand-made steps including material selection, shaping, polishing, and decoration.

Importance culturelle

Beyond being hair tools, Changzhou combs serve as gifts and art objects, embodying the refined craft culture of the Jiangnan region.
