The Tianmen Mountain Glass Skywalk is one of Zhangjiajie's signature thrill attractions, a series of narrow glass walkways bolted to the vertical cliff faces near the summit of Tianmen Mountain. Suspended hundreds of meters above the valley floor, the skywalks allow visitors to walk out along the face of the cliff with nothing but transparent glass beneath their feet, making it one of the most photographed and most vertigo-inducing experiences available anywhere in the Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park.

There are three separate skywalk sections on the mountain, each following a different stretch of cliff and offering slightly different perspectives across the surrounding peaks and the city of Zhangjiajie far below. The west, east, and Panlong Cliff skywalks each trace the rock face in a way that emphasizes exposure, and on clear days the views extend across the Wuling range, while misty days give the walks a more atmospheric and dramatic feel, with clouds drifting across the glass and the cliffside.

Because the glass is transparent, the experience is genuinely unnerving for many visitors, and it is common to see people edging along the inside of the walkway close to the rock face while others stroll out to the edge for photographs. Shoe covers are required on the glass to protect the surface and are issued at the entrance to each section, and the skywalks are typically visited as part of a loop around the Tianmen Mountain summit rather than as a standalone destination.

For visitors planning a Zhangjiajie itinerary, the Tianmen Mountain Glass Skywalk is one of the city's most distinctive experiences and a clear counterpart to the cliff-edge paths of Wulingyuan, focused on exposure and adrenaline rather than panoramic scenery. It is best treated as part of a full day on Tianmen Mountain itself, paired with the cableway ascent and the descent to Tianmen Cave for a complete loop of the park.
