Lac du Tai Chi au mont Wudang

Wudang Taiji Lake is a large man-made lake set among the mountains of Hubei province on the fringes of the Wudang Mountain scenic area. Formed by a reservoir nestling in a basin of forested slopes, it has become a leisure destination in its own right, complementing the temples and pilgrim trails of Wudangshan with a quieter, waterside experience rooted in the same Taoist cultural landscape.

The lake takes its name from taiji, the concept of supreme polarity that runs through Taoist philosophy and the martial art tai chi chuan, for which Wudang Mountain is famous. Long-standing local tradition speaks of seventy-two peaks clustered around the great summit and twenty-four streams flowing year-round, and the lake gathers that water into a broad mirror framed by green hills.
