Fisherman's Wharf (Yuren Matou) is a small but atmospheric waterfront district just east of Laohutan Ocean Park, built around the historic Hutan fishing harbor on Dalian's southern coast. Inspired by the fisherman's-wharf concept imported from Europe and North America, it combines a working fishing port with a cluster of pastel-colored European-style buildings, cafés, restaurants, and boutique shops. For travelers, it makes a relaxed late-afternoon and evening stop, particularly welcome after a day at the ocean park.

The wharf's defining feature is its contrast. On one side of the harbor, colorfully painted European-style buildings — gabled roofs, pastel facades, decorative chimneys — house restaurants and shops, lending the area its distinctive old-world feel. On the other side, the working fishing harbor remains active, with boats coming and going, nets spread on the quayside, and fishermen unloading the day's catch. This juxtaposition of tourist-facing architecture and genuine maritime life is what sets Dalian's Fisherman's Wharf apart from purely manufactured leisure districts.

The food scene is the main practical draw. The setting is part of the appeal: outdoor tables look out over the harbor, the boats, and the sea, making a meal here one of the most atmospheric dining experiences in the city.

For travelers, the wharf pairs naturally with a visit to Laohutan Ocean Park, which is within easy walking distance. Allow an hour or two for a walk around the harbor, or longer for a sit-down meal at sunset. Mornings are quiet, with the fishing boats heading out; late afternoons and evenings are livelier, with the restaurants filling up and the harbor lights coming on.
