Zhangjiajie Yangxi Opera

Yangxi is sung in the local dialect, with vocal styles of strong regional color; its role types, performance and repertoire draw largely on folk tales and everyday life, giving it a vivid rustic flavor much loved by local audiences.
As national-level ICH, Yangxi preserves a living form of western Hunan's dialect, music and folk storytelling, making it an important carrier of local opera culture and rural memory.
At local opera performances, folk festivals and cultural venues in Zhangjiajie, visitors can enjoy Yangxi's home-dialect singing and staging.
