Hongquan is a traditional martial art that arose and spread in the Guanzhong region of Shaanxi; long in history, its influence reaches the northwest, southwest, and central plains, branching into Henan, Gansu, Sichuan, and Yunnan schools.

La forma artística

Its repertoire is large, with more than thirty routines such as small, large, and Taizu Hongquan, plus over forty weapon sets including spear, staff, whip-rod, and sabre; it emphasizes thrusting and chopping as its foundation and hooking as its skill, with agile footwork blending hardness and softness.

Importancia cultural

Carrying philosophy, combat skill, and recreational fitness, Hongquan deeply expresses the refined, restrained, and self-strengthening spirit of the Three Qin culture; listed on the second national intangible-heritage list in 2008, it is a living vessel of Guanzhong's martial tradition.

Its practice centers on boxing societies and martial groups in Xi'an and across Guanzhong, offering a window onto Shaanxi's folk martial culture.
