Zhongshan Hot Spring, set in Yongmo Village in the Sanxiang area of Zhongshan, is one of the longest-established hot spring resorts in the Pearl River Delta and a place whose name still carries weight across the broader Lingnan region. The resort took shape in the early years of China's reform and opening, when cross-border investment from Hong Kong and Macau helped turn the thermal springs of rural Zhongshan into one of southern China's first modern leisure destinations, and the property has retained that pioneering status in local memory even as newer resorts have proliferated across Guangdong.

For foreign visitors, Zhongshan Hot Spring offers a relaxed introduction to the Chinese hot spring tradition as it has developed in the south, where the emphasis falls on garden settings and long, slow soaks rather than the alpine or volcanic settings associated with hot springs elsewhere in Asia. A visit typically fills a half-day or extends into an overnight stay at the on-site hotel, and the resort is popular with travelers coming from Hong Kong, Macau, and the wider Guangdong region. It pairs naturally with other Zhongshan sights — the Sun Yat-sen sites to the east, Zhan Garden to the south — and the cooler months from late autumn through early spring are the most comfortable time to enjoy the outdoor pools.
