Río Yulong (Yangshuo)

The Yulong River Scenic Area follows the gentle, meandering course of the Yulong, a tributary of the Li River that winds through the karst countryside to the west of Yangshuo town. Often called the "little Li River," the Yulong is narrower, quieter, and more intimate than its famous parent, with bamboo rafts, stone bridges, and rural villages strung along its banks. For independent travelers, the Yulong lends itself to a full day of slow exploration. Many visitors combine a morning raft trip with an afternoon of cycling through the surrounding villages, stopping at the Big Banyan Tree, Moon Hill, and the smaller country temples scattered along the country lanes. Others prefer to walk sections of the riverside path, particularly around the old bridges, where cafes and small guesthouses offer places to sit and watch the river drift by.
