Río Xiang

The Xiang River is the major waterway running through the heart of Changsha, dividing the city into an eastern bank, home to the older downtown core, and a western bank, dominated by Yuelu Mountain and the university district. As one of the principal rivers of Hunan province, it has shaped the city's layout, economy, and identity for centuries, and it remains the organizing feature around which most of central Changsha's sightseeing is naturally arranged.
