Glutinous-Rice Sausage in Pork Sausage

Berühmte Spezialitäten
Was es ist

This snack splits a glutinous-rice sausage lengthwise and tucks a grilled Taiwanese pork sausage inside, then adds cucumber, radish pickle, pickled mustard greens, garlic or mustard to taste, its "sausage-in-sausage" form giving it its name.

Herkunft

The snack is recognised as originating at Taichung's Fengjia Night Market, where the stall "Guan Jhih-lin" is the best known, operating for more than thirty years, beloved of Fengjia students and one of the longest-queued snacks for visitors.

Wie man es isst

Grilled to order and eaten by hand, the soft chew of the rice sausage meets the savoury snap of the pork, pickled greens cutting the richness and garlic lifting the flavour, best enjoyed while strolling the market.

Besonderheit

Its layered sausage-within-sausage texture, the char of grilled pork and the pairing of Hakka-style pickled greens and garlic, set against its Fengjia origin, are the marks of this snack.
