Deyuan Buns

Deyuan buns are a long-established Changsha steamed bun, with soft risen skin and full fillings ranging from sweet paste to pork-and-vegetable and shiitake, plump in shape with finely pleated tops.

Deyuan is an old Changsha dim-sum house, and a local saying pairs "Yangyuxing's noodles, Xu Changxing's duck and Deyuan's buns" as the city's three great foods, carrying the buns' fame far and wide.

Eaten hot from the steamer, most often as breakfast with a bowl of soy milk or rice noodles, prized for the fluffy skin and the juicy abundance of the filling.

Its soft leavened skin, wide variety of fillings and place among Changsha's "three great foods" are the hallmarks of Deyuan buns.
