Wangxingji

Founded by Wang Ting'an, who in 1922 took over a small storefront on Park Road in Wuxi and named it Wangxingji, it began with just four tables selling wontons and steamed buns. After a century it is a nationally certified time-honored brand.

Renowned at home and abroad for its soup dumplings and three-fresh wontons, with thin skins, rich broth and a savory-then-sweet finish, Wangxingji is the signature memory of a Wuxi breakfast.

The soup dumplings come with fresh pork, crab roe or crab-meat fillings, prized for thin wrappers and abundant juices; the wontons span three-fresh, crab, shrimp and shepherd's-purse styles, served in a pork-bone broth with springy skins and a clear, savory soup.
