Fulintang

Fulintang was established by Li Yuqing in 1857 on Guanghua Street in Kunming. Its name evokes 'blessing the apricot grove,' echoing the ancient physician Dong Feng, who treated the poor for free and asked the cured to plant apricot trees until they formed a forest.

Renowned for authentic herbs, careful sourcing, and resident master physicians who diagnosed and dispensed on the spot, it became the foremost apothecary in Kunming during the Republican period.

Physicians consulted at the front while the back hall prepared remedies and pills by traditional Chinese-medicine processing methods, making it a living witness to old Kunming's medical heritage.
