"The Grand Ceremony of Worship on Mount Tai" is a large-scale outdoor live performance that recreates the imperial feng and shan sacrifice ceremonies once performed on Mount Tai by China's emperors. Staged in a purpose-built open-air theatre on the foothills of the mountain near Tai'an, the show is one of the most ambitious cultural productions in Shandong Province and a useful way for foreign visitors to grasp why this single mountain has carried such weight in Chinese state ritual.

The performance unfolds in a sequence of historically themed scenes, each evoking a different dynasty said to have conducted sacrifice rites on Mount Tai — from the legendary ancient kings through the Qin and Han emperors to the Tang and Song courts. Hundreds of performers take part, with mounted cavalry, massed ranks of court attendants, dancers, and musicians. The stage design exploits the natural slope of the mountain as a backdrop, and lighting and sound design amplify the sense of scale. Dialogue is largely in Mandarin, but the spectacle is primarily visual and easy to follow without language skills.
