Tianhetan-Resort (Guiyang)

Tianhetan Tourist Resort, located in the southwestern suburbs of Guiyang, is a scenic area that compresses much of what makes Guizhou's landscape famous into a single accessible site. Often described as a miniature of Guizhou's mountains and waters, it brings together caves, waterfalls, streams, and pools within easy reach of the city.

The resort is organized around four main experiences. Visitors can view the calcified travertine waterfalls that cascade down mineral-laden rock, explore the Xiangba Gully area focused on the region's water culture, take a boat ride through a flooded water cave, and walk through a dry cave system on foot. Together, these four components give a remarkably complete tour of the karst geology that defines the wider province.

A long high-altitude zipline, running roughly four hundred meters, carries riders out over the landscape and offers an aerial perspective on the caves, waterfalls, and forested slopes below. For visitors who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, the walking paths and boat routes offer a quieter, closer engagement with the same scenery.

The caves are the centerpiece. Unlike many karst areas where the interest is mostly visual, Tianhetan lets visitors actually travel through its underground spaces by boat, drifting along the water-filled chambers in a way that turns the geology into a direct, physical experience. The contrast between the dark interiors and the bright open pools outside gives the site much of its character.
