Lingxiu Hot Spring is a resort-style hot spring complex at the base of Mount Emei, set beside Lingxiu Lake in the Baoguo Temple scenic zone and popular with travelers as a recovery stop after a day on the mountain. After climbing the steep stone paths of this UNESCO World Heritage site, soaking in mineral-rich geothermal water is one of the more civilized ways to wind down, and the spring has built a steady domestic following as part of the standard Emei itinerary.

The complex offers multiple outdoor pools of different temperatures, set within landscaped gardens and connected by winding stone paths. Different zones are designed for different preferences — hotter soaking pools, cooler swimming-temperature pools, and a handful of feature pools with massage jets or mineral additives. The overall layout makes it easy to move between temperatures, which is the traditional Chinese approach to hot-spring bathing and a good way to relax stiff legs after the long summit descent.

The spring water itself is drawn from Emei's geothermal system. The mountain sits in an active tectonic zone in the western Sichuan Basin, and deep-circulating groundwater emerges at the surface warm and mineralized, with the typical faint sulfur signature of volcanic-belt springs. The water is treated and regulated before reaching the pools, and bathing is separated by gender in changing areas but shared in the main outdoor pools, in line with standard Chinese hot-spring practice.

For international visitors, Lingxiu Hot Spring is best treated as a single-evening experience rather than a standalone destination. It pairs naturally with a two-day Mount Emei trip: climb or ride to the summit on day one, descend in the afternoon of day two, and soak in the evening before dinner in the Baoguo Temple area. The atmosphere is busiest in the domestic peak seasons and most pleasant on weekday evenings outside those windows.

As a complement to the cultural and scenic density of Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha, a hot-spring evening at Lingxiu offers a quieter, bodily kind of pleasure — a traditional end-of-pilgrimage rest that fits well into a Sichuan travel loop.
